CARD WARS!

Card Wars was held at the Spenard Rec Center on February 16, 2008.

It was a collectible card game extravaganza with tournaments and demonstrations for Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh , Naruto, Legends of the 5 Rings and more!

This event was co-sponsored by Anchorage Parks & Recreation.

The Tournaments scheduled:

Magic: The Gathering
BOSCO'S Cup Tournament #1 Sealed deck tournament.

Top three this round were: 1) Jeff Gottstein 2) Andrejs Prost 3) Henry Pagan

This event kicked-off a year long Championship series for Magic: The Gathering. We'll have tournaments every three months or so. This first of four, BOSCO'S Cup #1, was a sealed deck tournament using the current block including Lorwyn and Morningtide.

BOSCO'S Cup #2 will be a Booster Draft Shadowmoor using the first set in the next block. The tournament will probably be held in early May. BOSCO'S Cup #3 will be a constructed standard type 2. Likely in August. BOSCO'S Cup #4 Multiplayer booster draft. We'll also have a Vintage Type 1 tournament on the side for more fun. This is likely in November or early December.

The top three of each tournament will get an engraved trophy. The annual winner's name will be added to the giant trophy on display at BOSCO'S in Spenard.

This was the most hotly contested tournament of the day! When these guys are playing, the cards really fly!

There were prizes and goodies for all along with the best competition in town!
