for 2009 and 2010 standings are posted!
Typical
Supplies/Prize Layout for
Magic: The Gathering Tournaments:
Draft
Tournaments: 3 Booster packs per person for deck construction,
2 Booster packs in the prize pool, 1 pity pack awarded to each
player.
Sealed
Deck Tournaments: 1 Tournament pack and 2 Booster packs per
person for deck construction, 2 Booster packs in the prize pool,
1 pity pack awarded to each player.
Standard
(Type 2) Tournaments: Players bring their own decks, abiding
by the banned/restricted list on the MTG website. 1 Booster pack
in the prize pool, 1 pity pack awarded to each player.
Typical
Prize pool distribution:
1st
place receives 1/2 of prize pool, rounded(if necessary) to the
nearest number of packs suitable to support half of remaining
packs in prize pool to as many places as possible.
Thus
if there were 18 packs in the prize pool, 1st place would get
9 packs, 2nd place would get 4 packs, 3rd place would get 2, fourth
would get 2, and fifth would get 1. On top of that, all players
would get a pack for playing, held aside from the prize pool.

SPORTS
CARD TRADE NIGHT
We will host
a sportscard trade night about once a month. . (Check
our Sportscard Collectors page for updates.)
Bring your
extra and unwanted cards to trade with other collectors.
In conjuction
with that, we are running a super promotion. We
will give away a prize containing one pack of virtually
every sportscard product that comes out between now and
then.
To participate,
all you have to do is buy sportscard packs and you ought
to be doing that anyway. For every
$5.00 spent on sports cards singles, packs, boxes and sets,
we will give you one ticket. The more you spend,
the more tickets you get. Then on trade night, we will draw
ONE ticket and give you a few minutes to search through
your tickets. If someone produces the matching ticket, they
get all the packs accumulated. If nobody has the matching
ticket, the packs will carry over to the next trade night
and we will add the next month's packs to it. All tickets
issued prior to the drawing will be thrown away.
Trade night
drawing rules
1.
Must be here to win
2. We will draw ONE ticket only.
3. We will give everyone present FIVE minutes to look
through their tickets.
4. If the winning ticket is present, then we give away
the incredible package to the lucky person.
5. If nobody claims the prize package, we will carry over
the packs to the next trade night while adding even more
packs as they come out.
6. All tickets issued prior to the drawing will be tossed
out.

How
is the Scars of Mirrodin Game Day going to work? Magic Game
Days will take advantage of the new settings and mechanics
in the latest set. For Scars of Mirrodin Game Day, players
can build a Standard deck that affiliates with one of the
two factions in Scars of Mirrodin. (While having an affiliated
deck is not required for Game Day, it will add a unique
and significant element of excitement to the tournament.)
The top 2 finishers
affiliated with each faction receive a preview card from
the February 2011 Magic set, Mirrodin Besieged! This
is in addition to any top 8 prize cards they might win for
their overall event finish.
What does it
mean to "affiliate" your Standard deck? All cards in Scars
of Mirrodin are affiliated with one of the two factions
in the set. An affiliated deck must have at least ten main-deck
cards from the chosen faction, and none in the main deck
or sideboard from the opposing faction. The deck must still
be Standard legal.
We'll have a
special foil card for the first 30 players and another for
the top 8 winners! We'll have preview cards from Mirrodin
Besieged™ for the top 4 "affiliated" winners.

We are pleased that Anchorage's
Channel 2 News covered this important issue on its evening news
shows on July 16, 2001. Bret Clark, former Chairman of BOSCO'S Committee
for Pop Culture was interviewed. He made a clear case for making
the name change. All we have to do now is get 51% of the people
living on Lois Drive to agree to this sensible change!

Superman
& Lois Lane!
They have been part of American culture for sixty years! The feisty
Lois Lane has been a role model for millions of strong and independent
women! Anchorage has an opportunity to pay tribute to this heroine
by simply changing a poorly named street in Spenard from "Lois
Dr." to "Lois Lane"
This Spenard
roadway was clearly named by an uncultured person. As the comic
reading elite, it falls on us to right his wrong.
